2010 Legion World Series award winners

American Legion Baseball wrapped up its 84th season with its World Series in Spokane, Wash., at Avista Stadium, Aug. 13-17, with eight regional tournament champion teams. After 15 games that kept fans on the edges of their seats, Midwest City, Okla., "Outlaws" Post 170 claimed the World Series title while Eden Prairie, Minn., finished runner-up. Even though the Outlaws took home the winning trophy, many players from the eight teams were winners for their baseball prowess.

After the conclusion of the World Series, players' statistics from both regionals and the World Series were tallied in order to recognize the leaders in categories such as hits, home runs, strikeouts and more. Additionally, the statistics unveiled the All-Tournament Team. The following information features the 2010 Legion World Series award recipients.

James Daniel Jr. Sportsmanship Award - Blake Schmit, Eden Prairie, Minn.
Most Valuable Player Award - Dalton Bernardi, Midwest City, Okla.
Dr. Irvin L ‘Click' Cowger RBI Award - Vince Ampi, Roseburg, Ore. (19 RBIs)
Rawlings Big Stick Award for the most total bases - Matt Holloran, Eden Prairie, Minn. (34 bases)
Bob Feller Pitching Award for the most strikeouts - Kevin Hill, Midwest City, Okla. (33.1 innings pitched, 35 strikeouts)
Louisville Slugger Award for the highest batting average - Jake Hager, Las Vegas (.476 batting average)

A flag is provided at no cost to drape the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased veteran. Generally, the flag is given to the next of kin. Only one flag may be provided per veteran. Upon the request of the family, an “Application for United States Flag for Burial Purposes” (VA Form 21-2008) must be submitted along with a copy of the veteran’s discharge papers. Flags may be obtained from VA regional offices and most U.S. Post Offices.
